Dr. Gubad Ibadoghlu is an economist and civil society activist from Azerbaijan. He has commenced his career at Economic Research Center since 1999. He is a senior analyst for social and economic studies at Azerbaijan’s Economic Research Center, a Baku-based NGO that promotes economic development and good governance. In addition, he is an Associate professor of Azerbaijan State Economic University. His research focuses on politics of natural resources and revenue management. He is conducted research at the Higher Economic School, Warsaw in 1999/2000, at Central European University, Budapest in 2004/2005, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2008/2009 and Duke University in 2015/2016. Dr. Ibadoghlu was a member of the Steering Committee of the EU Eastern Partnership Program’s Civil Society Forum (CSF) and he was a country coordinator of National Platform of the CSF, he helps to facilitate greater collaboration among the 51 participating NGOs in Azerbaijan. He has also served as a coordinator of “For Improving Transparency in Extractive Industries,” a 142-member Baku-based NGO coalition, and has been re-elected as a civil society representative to the board of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative for 2016–2019.
