Kristiina Tonnisson is working as the Head of Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies at University of Tarty in Estonia. Kristiina is active in various academic and civil society organizations and/or committees. She is the Chair of the Board for National Foundation for Civil Society and Estonian external expert for COST (European Cooperation for Science and Research). She has been team leader for various applied research project, e.g. "The Europe of the Regions: Strategies & Perspectives in the View of the Forthcoming Enlargement of the European Union” (Committee of the Regions), “Regional Development and EU Cohesion and Competition Policy in Estonia” (European Policy Research Center), etc. Her main research interests include public management in new democracies, local governance, civil society and change management in public sector. She has worked both in Europe and in the United States having experiences in public, nonprofit and private sector organizations.
