Mr. Alimammad Nuriyev is a recognized member of Azerbaijani civil society - rigorous advocate of human rights, democracy and good governance, with extensive experience in academia, policy-making and civil society. By education, he is a lawyer, holding a diploma in Law from the Baku State University. Currently, he is the President of Constitution Research Fund. He has been in this role since 2003. He is also holding position of Coordinator of the Government-Civil Society Dialogue Platform for the Promotion of Open Government, jointly established by the government representatives and civil society members in September 2016. At the same time, he also serves as a member of the Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under The President of Azerbaijan Republic, since 2008. He served a term as a Member of Parliament in 2001-2005 and taught at university in 1995-2000. Additionally, throughout his career, as an independent expert, he provided consultancy services in a number of civil society projects implemented by international organizations such as USAID, Open Society Foundation, OECD, Transparency International, Eurasia Partnership Foundation. Both as a Member of Parliament and civil society expert, he participated in designing and advocacy of a number of laws and regulations on issues ranging from elections to Parliament and civic participation to disability, inclusive education and anti-corruption. He is the author of numerous research and policy analysis in his field and frequently participates in TV programs.
