Nguyen Thi Kieu Vien is the founder and former Executive Director of Towards Transparency (TT) from 2009 to 2012. After that, she moved to Europe and worked as the Global Transparency Education Network Coordinator – a new global network supported by Transparency International from April 2013 to May 2014. In the same period, she joined TT’s Advisory Board as a Senior Advisor. Vien has been active in her capacity as an appointed Chair of the Vietnamese CSOs voluntary coalition to advocate Vietnam to meet OGP’s eligibility criteria. In September 2016, Vien went back to Vietnam and took her chef executive role at TT.

Prior to establishing TT, Vien has worked 12 years with international NGOs and held a number of leadership and management positions. Vien has worked as National Programme Manager and Senior Governance Advisor at SNV in Hanoi. She served as a selected non-Dutch member of The Third Chamber (the Dutch shadow Parliament on International Development Cooperation) in 2003 and 2007. She has also worked as a consultant for the World Bank, UNDP and a number of donor agencies, focusing specifically on anti – corruption and governance issues. Vien holds a Masters degree on Social Planning and Development from the University of Queensland, Australia.
