Carlo Amati is a senior policy analyst at the Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Department for Cohesion Policy. He has been working for more than 15 years on public investments for regional development, with main focus on open government, data monitoring and analytics and predictive modeling.

Since its launch in 2012, he has co-managed OpenCoesione, the Italian open government strategy on cohesion policy aimed at a greater efficiency and effectiveness in the use of regional development funds. In partnership with Monithon, the independent platform for civic monitoring of regional development projects, OpenCoesione was acknowledged with the OGP silver award for citizen engagement in 2014.

Before that, he developed innovative tools for decision-making and policy support, such as the forecasting system of public investment spending and VISTO, a web-based application for interactive visualisation of project length estimates. He holds a master's degree in physics and a specialisation in applied econometrics.
