“Transparency and Accountability” Program is existing in Soros Foundation-Kazakhstan since 2004 and its purpose is to ensure transparency and accountability in the public finance management processes.

Areas of activities:

Support for initiatives to strengthen governance practices of revenue/budget monitoring NGOs and their interaction with the expert community and the mass media;
Support initiatives in the field of research and practical recommendations aimed to ease Kazakhstan's accession the status of 30 world most developed countries (OECD standards, improvement of transparency and accountability of state bodies);
Support initiatives to enhance the transparency of revenues from the extractive sector (research to push forward EITI implementation in accordance to new EITI standard, promotion of the EITI at subnational level).
